HOLIDAY CONCERT: VIVALDI PROJECT

Saturday, Dec 13, 2014

The Vivaldi Project

The Vivaldi Project brings to life the Classical String Trio, an exciting and flexible genre explored by some of the 18th century’s greatest composers. The string trio is on the one hand true chamber music, an outgrowth of the baroque trio sonata so perfected by Corelli and Vivaldi. At the same time it could be crafted orchestrally, intended for many voices on a part but with the view that should the patron’s or city’s coffers fall short, only three players would be required. Performing on period instruments, The Vivaldi Project captures the delightful textures and sonorities of these works (some of them rarely performed) in a delightful holiday celebration. The concert will include trios by Haydn and Boccherini, and the grand Divertimento in Eb by Mozart.

Concert time and Venue: 8 PM, Carteret County Public Library, 1702 Live Oak St., Beaufort, NC
